Is a lump at my cat's vaccination site normal?

Post-injection lumps (granulomas) are a common reaction that typically resolves within weeks to months. However, if a lump persists beyond 3 months, exceeds 2 cm in diameter, or continues to grow for more than 1 month, histological examination should be performed to rule out injection-site sarcoma.

Does every lump on a cat need to be surgically removed?

Not necessarily. Your vet will first perform fine needle aspirate cytology (FNA) to determine the nature of the lump. Benign lumps that don't affect quality of life can be monitored regularly. However, malignant tumors or rapidly growing lumps typically warrant surgical removal with histopathology.
